Sr. Researcher/Task Lead of Public Affairs

Exigent is seeking to hire an experienced Sr. Researcher/Task Lead of Public Affairs, and Strategic Communication to join our teams with unmatched mission – developing and implementing communication strategies, processes, and products.

As Sr. Researcher, you will provide subject matter expertise on communications deliverables and project management tasks. You'll be part of a talented team that will develop and implement communication strategies, processes, and products, with ongoing program evaluation and research to expand the implementation of practices.

You will:
  • The research shall include audience analysis; qualitative and quantitative analysis; and recommendations based on findings.
  • Coordinating with the communication campaign/plan leads to develop, utilize, and assess appropriate metrics to determine the efficacy of Army communication efforts and enable analysis of alternative options to deploy the Army’s messages.
  • Assess mainstream media outlets as well as Army-owned and operated platforms, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, and Army YouTube channels, and provide recommendations to optimize execution and performance.
  • Provide technical expert counsel to identify Centers of Influence (COI) for key publics, media outlets, and potential communication opportunities or Key Leader Engagements in support of the OCPA plans and Government personnel.
  • Provide recommendations on social media influencers for specific topics and/or regions designated by the OCPA.
  • Analyze and apply industry best practices in communication policy, strategy, processes, principles and methodologies to aid the OCPA to better communicating Army messages.
  • Advise and assist the OCPA in developing effective metric-based tracking of communication efforts and make recommendations for adjusting communication efforts based on assessment analysis.
  • Collect and analyze multimodal (statistical data) media including, but not limited to: daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, wire services, magazines, television, radio, email, blogs, websites, Rich Site Summary (RSS) feeds, social media, and relevant opensource information.
  • This media analysis shall include quantitative and qualitative, systematic and objective methods to determine the form and content of text and broadcasts.
  • Identify, collect and publish required on-demand/ad hoc, daily, weekly, and monthly reports based on opensource traditional and social media reporting on the Army’s key publics.
  • Provide on-demand/ad-hoc reports in the form of media clips rollups, reporter bio requests, information requests about outlets, and topical internet searches.
  • Provide weekend support (Friday-Sunday) with a sufficient compilation of news media reporting and other information sources into a digest that is cross-referenced with the DoD Morning News of Note.
  • Monitor breaking news on all major news organizations websites and social media platforms on a daily basis and provide alerts to the MRD leadership upon breaking news coverage of stories in media outlets.
  • Provide the Strategy and Plans Division with detailed, in-depth assessment reports based on strategic communication efforts, important topics, events, or communication platforms.
You will have:
  • United States Citizenship; sponsorship is not available.
  • A Master’s degree.
  • 5 years of demonstrated social science or behavioral research experience
  • Experience supporting the Army or Military operations.
  • Fluency in the English language and ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • The ability to conduct research and analysis work on an Advanced level is required.
  • Must be proficient in manipulating a variety of the top industry platforms with sophisticated Boolean searches.
